Armed Forces Remembrance: we will spear no effort to maintain peace says Oyetola

Governor State of Osun Mr Gobyega Oyetola on Sunday said his administration shall continue to do everything humanly possible to sustain the peaceful coexistence in the state.

He said his administration would continue to collaborate with the security agencies in providing logistics for their effectiveness and efficiency on security.

Governor Oyetola also called for stability in all parts of the nation to reflect on the  sacrifice made by the fallen heroes to pay for peace to reign supreme.

The governor gave the assurance at a special Thanksgiving service to commemorate the Year 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration held at  St. James Gospel African Church, Gbongan/Ibadan road Gbodofon  Osogbo.

Represented by Deputy Governor Mr Benedict Alabi, Governor Oyetola described the occasion as a period for sober reflection on the state of the nation, adding that" with love and cooperation, the challenges facing the country like insurgency,  herdsmen/farmers attacks among others would be a thing of the past".

He charged the people of the country to embrace peace in the interest of all.
"We should continue to live together in confidence and cohesion with more faith and pride in ourselves"

According to the Governor, ‎the occasion of Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration is  a reminder on why we need to strengthen our democracy to promote unity, peace, love, harmony and stability.


"Today's service was a good reminder on why Nigerians should work to strengthen democracy,we should avoid actions that are capable of leading to war and other national disasters".

Quoting from the book of St. John, Chapter 15 verse 13, Governor Oyetola said when there is love, there would be peace.

He commiserated with the families of gallant soldiers who lost their lives in defense of the nation's territory, promised that his administration would continue to support them.

Governor Oyetola also appreciated the religious leaders for their prayers, " your prayers have contributed significantly to why we have peace in our state".

He pledged his administration's commitment to maintain  peace and harmonious relationship among the people of the state.

In his sermon at the Thanksgiving service, the Bishop of Ife/Osogbo diocese of St. James Gospel African Church The RT. Reverend Dr A.I Dawodu enjoined people to choose the path of peace with one and other.

The cleric while reading from the book of  psalm chapter 122 called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the country especially as we are approaching the general elections.

" We should follow peace with all men and let us appreciate our differences and empathize with one and other ".

RT Reverend Dr Dawodu who described the effects of war as devastating saluted the Nigerian armed forces most especially the departed gallant soldiers for laying down their lives to ensure there is peace in the land.

Present at the Thanksgiving service were the Chief Judge in the state Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, the State head of service who doubles as  chairman planning committee of the 2019 Armed forces remembrance day celebration Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade, the commandant General and Chairman Nigerian Legion in the state Commander Oladimeji Olalere, the Commander, Engineering construction command Ede Brig. General Emico Eruwa, the commander 209 Quick Response group Ipetu-Ijesa, Wing Commander K.O Akinyosade, top government functionaries, members of Nigerian legion, their families among others.
