Leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Osun west senatorial district have expressed their readiness to team up with the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the coming general elections.
They vowed to allow their followers and members to work for the victory of all the APC flag bearers in the February 16th and March 3rd general elections from presidential to National and state houses of assembly elections.
The SDP leaders in Osun west made this vow on Monday during a meeting with the leaders of the APC held in Iwo where all the APC flag bearers and political functionaries from Osun west senatorial district were present.
The SDP leaders were led to the meeting by the former minister of police affairs Alhaji Jeleel Adesiyan popularly called JALO and the Deputy Governorship candidate of the SDP in the last Osun governorship election Mr Yemi Lawal.
Among those present at the meeting were the State of Osun Deputy Governor Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, the Speaker of the state house of assembly RT. Hon. Najeem salaam, all the local government chairmen in the district as well as former members of the state executive council and party leaders.
Speaking one after the other during the meeting, Alhaji Jeleel Adesiyan, Mr Yemi Lawal and other SDP leaders assured the APC leaders in Osun west of their maximum cooperation and support for the rulling party in the state during the coming poll.
They condemned their former party, People's Democratic party (PDP) for its failure to provide good governance when in power and described the party as a dead party that has nothing to offer.
They added that the PDP which they belonged before has failed them and the people with its misrule and impunity that has forced many of them out of the party.
The SDP leaders said the victory of all the APC candidates in the coming poll is a joint task that must be done.
They expressed conviction about the ability of the rulling All Progressives Congress APC to take the state and the country to the next level.
The Deputy Governor state of Osun Mr Olugboyega Alabi and the speaker Osun state house of assembly RT. Hon. Najeem salaam in their separate remarks at the meeting called for Unity and cooperation among the members of the APC and the SDP.
They said the togetherness of the both parties will do the state and the both parties a lot of good.
They also called on members to embark on aggressive campaign for the party's victory.
