At the commencement of proceeding very early in the, Governor Gboyega Oyetola has taken his seat at the Court of Appeal, together with his learned counsel, where he requested that the Appeal Court should reverse the majority judgement of the Tribunal. In the proceeding that lasted for almost Eight Hours, the appeals and cross appeals were examined. In their appeals, argued Wednesday, Oyetola, the APC and INEC prayed the five-man panel of the Court of Appeal, led by Justice Jummai Sankey, to set aside the majority decision of the tribunal, uphold their appeals and dismiss the October 16, 2018 petition by Adeleke and the PDP. "Osun Tribunal's verdict is judicial hearsay", Oyetola's lawyer tells Appeal Court The Osun Election Petition Appeal Court panel sitting in Abuja was yesterday told to set aside Justice Peter Obiora's majority decision for being judicial hearsay. Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), the leading counsel to Governor Gboyega Oyetola argued before the Court that Justice Obiora who was member number one did not sit on the panel on the day the Petitioners' Witness number 74 gave evidence before the Tribunal. This act of Justice Obiora, the senior advocate stated, amounted to judicial hearsay that cannot be allowed to stand. The Silk argued that though Obiora's name was listed as one of the three judges sitting on the panel, the judge did not sign as having participated in the proceedings of that day. 769 Osun workers involved in certificate forgery scandal The Osun State government, on Friday disclosed that a total of 769 of its workforce were discovered to have forged certificates presented at the point of employment. The Supervisor for the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. It said a consultancy firm, Captain Consultants, which was engaged five years ago by the state Government to verify results and other necessary documents submitted by the workers recently completed its assignment and submitted report. According to the statement, the screening of the workers credentials came on the heels of controversies and reported forgery of results with which some of the workers allegedly secured job in the Osun civil service.
