OSUN RANKED AS MOST PEACEFUL STATE IN NIGERIA –State Of Osun, Bureau of Statistics (SBS)
Professor Alagbe Gbolagade, State of Osun , Statistician-General has said that the state has been ranked as the most peaceful state in Nigeria according to a research conducted.
He said on Tuesday that this was based on the research findings of the Foundation for Peace Professional (FPP), an Independent Non-Government Organization (NGO).
According to him, the Foundation for Peace Professional (FPP) unveiled Nigeria Peace Index (NPI) research, focusing on measuring peace tendencies through foundational indices.
Professor Alagbe Gbolagade stated that the data were collected from year 2010-2016 during the regime of former Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, an average of which gives us the result of Nigeria Peace Index 2017 while the research was also extended in the State of Osun for year 2018 and first quarter of year 2019 adopting the same time broad indicators for the index during this present administration of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.
He stated further that the results of the research followed the same trend which shows the advantage of continuity in the governance of the State of Osun.
Professor Gbolagade also said that the results of the research show that Yobe, Kebbi , Bauchi , Zamfara and Sokoto states were found to be the least peaceful states in the country.
Professor Gbolagade said that, on a geo-political basis, Osun was rated the most peaceful State in the South-west; Akwa Ibom in the South-south; Kaduna in the North-west; Kogi in the North-Central; Imo in the South-east and Taraba in the North-east.
"The implication of this research is that if you are looking for a place to settle down and kick start your venture in the South-western part of the country, State of Osun would offer you that. With tight security in the State, you are sure that your safety is intact and guaranteed", he stressed.
