Our service to God and humanity in lenten season should be sustained. Says Osun Dep Gov

The Deputy Governor State of Osun Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi has enjoined Christians to remain focused in their belief in relation to the lessons of the holy week and renewal of vow and commitment to God through the Church.
Mr Alabi gave the charge while speaking with newsmen shortly after attending a special church service tagged ‘Chrism Mass’ in commemoration of the passion week held at the Cathedral of St. Benedict Catholic Church Osogbo which was presided over the Catholic Bishop of Osun diocese Bishop John Oyejola.
The Deputy Governor observed the importance of convergence by the faithful adding that the once in a year event was in line with the tradition of the Catholic Church.
According to him, the service meant to renew vow and commitment to God through the Church was to enable the faithful sustain the standard required in the practice of their Christian faith.
Mr Alabi enjoined christians in the state to remain focused in their belief just as he urged them to allow the virtues of the faith manifest in all they do.
"What we are having today is part of our passion week service. As we tarry during the period of fasting and working with Christ, we should sustain it and let it be our way of life.
The service is a call for renewal of our priesthood and also our faith.
It is calling us back to Christ and we are the apostles and Representatives of Christ on Earth and we should live the way Christ has lived as he lives among us", The Deputy Governor added.
In his sermon, the presiding Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Osun, Bishop John Oyejola described priest life as a life of Calvary saying the mass is a vision of unity and communion in which they renew their commitment to the service of God and humanity.
The cleric who noted the situation in Nigeria said Christians has a duty to get the country out of the mess it found itself just as he urged them to contribute their quota in this regard.
