Irewole Elders Council praise Governor Oyetola and APC for number two seat given to Ikire.
The Elder Forum and people of Ikire in Irewole local government of Osun have expressed their profound gratitude to Osun governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola and All Progressives Congress (APC) for the opportunity given to one of them; Mr. Benedict Gboyega Alabi to occupy the number two seat in the state.
The feat, according to the forum is unprecedented in the political annals of the ancient town which they described as a big favour for the entire people of Ikire both at home and in diaspora.
The APC Elders Council stated this during a thank you visit to Osun Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola in his Office in Osogbo.
The forum said the people of Ikire would continue to be grateful to the governor and APC for the honour done to them and for this, they pledge their loyalty and unflinching support for the new government and the ruling party especially in the coming general elections.
The forum was led to the visit by a chieftain of APC and former Commissioner for Land and Housing in the state, Alhaji Fasaasi Olubowale. Alhaji Olubowale said it is only ungrateful people and community that would be given such a rear opportunity, recognition and a topmost position in government that would not reciprocate with unwavering commitment and support for such government and the party irrespective of differences by the people and the community. The leader of the delegation stated further that ‘it is obvious our people have being having a good image of this administration contrary to what they were told before the last governorship election. He prayed for divine wisdom for both the governor and his deputy in order to perform excellently.
Also speaking during the visit were current member of the state House of Assembly representing Irewole and Isokan state constituency, Hon Olasunkanmi Akinola and a former member of the same Assembly, Hon, Gbadebo Oyejide. They both alluded to the fact that the impact of the new government in the state is already being felt by the people of Ikire over the restoration of electricity supply to the town through the prompt interventions of the new deputy governor, Mr. Gboyega Alabi after several months of blackout and epileptic power supply to the ancient community. According to them, the era of epileptic power supply to Ikire and its environs is becoming a thing of the past with the support of the new government in the state.
They appealed to Governor Gboyega Oyetola to also intensify efforts at ensuring regular water supply to the town and to also intervene on the issue of timbers and planks business activities which they said needed immediate attention of government.
While commending the new deputy governor, Mr Gboyega Alabi for his humility and loyalty to his boss, the Ikire Elders Council Prayed for continuous God's guidance, wisdom knowledge and understanding for the new governor and his deputy to pilot the affairs of the state to the next level.
They also enjoined the new government to give priority to the welfare of the people especially, the workers.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola in his response thanked the delegate for the visit and assured them of his determination to consolidate on the gains already recorded in Ikire and to continue to make meaningful impacts on them.
The governor, through his deputy Mr. Gboyega Alabi called for unity among the people of Ikire and other town and villages around to see the reason for them to be in one fold in politics of development. The governor promised to restore regular portable water supply to the town before the year runs out and to intervene in the issue of timbers and planks business engagements so as to make it a win-win for both the government and the people. He also announced that the state hospital in Ikire would be upgraded and equipped for efficiency and to make it more functional in the interest of the people of the area. He concluded by saying that APC government is therefore counting on them for their support for all the candidates of the party in the coming general elections.
