Oyetola sues for continued peace as Osun Governor joins Parliament Christmas Carol.

Governor of the state of Osun Mr Gboyega Oyetola as called for continued peaceful coexistence and tolerance among the people for the continued progress of the state.

Governor  Oyetola attributed the peace, tranquility and accelerated development being witnessed in the state in the last few years to the quality leadership, unwavering commitment and the politics of progress  by the state legislature.

He acknowledged the fact that Osun house of assembly has been ranked among the most  purposeful  state houses of assembly in the country.

Governor Oyetola stated this in Osogbo at the Christmas carol songs organised by the state of Osun house of assembly held at the Christian Chapel in the assembly  complex.
He said the fifth and the current sixth assembly has laid a precedence in the history of state house of assembly.

The Governor represented by his deputy Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi said what the state has been able to achieve  in terms of peace, stability  and unprecedented development in the last few years was as a result of the ingenuity of the state legislature for the commitment, passion and support for the policies and programmes being executed by the executive arm of government in the state.
He assured that with the total cooperation and support of the people, the new government in the state would live up to the expectations in taking Osun to the next level.

Speaking at the carol songs, the Speaker of the State of Osun house of assembly Rt. Hon Najeem Salaam said religion should be seen as an instrument for societal development.

He opened that this can only be made possible in an environment of peace and harmony.

Dr Salaam stated that religion should not be seen as a factor that brings problems in the country  rather as an instrument that could be used to restructure the country.

The speaker of the state house of assembly who echoed his remarks  with various songs said  the Christmas carol songs which was the eighth edition and the last to be presided over by him during his speakership was to thank God for the grace, peace, development and stability the house of assembly and the state have been witnessing in past view years and especially from the beginning of the year to this moment.

"I thank God  for the state for been peaceful all this years despite the security challenges facing some states but osun  has not been affected either by the headsmen and farmers' clash, Boko  Haram insurgency attacks and many others.

Although there might be challenges but the state house of assembly has remained uninterrupted, purposeful and committed to the progress of the state", he added.
He called for moderation in the celebration of the season.

In his sermon at the programme, Reverend Dr. P.O Kolawole charged the new government in the state not to be distracted but to relying on God and build on the foundation already laid for the state.

Reverend Dr. Kolawole who spoke on a topic 'Jesus Christ, our peace'  described the state as one of the few states to be reckoned with in term of peace and development.
He called on Christians and the entire people of the society to allow the peace of God to reign supreme in their lives and in the society.

Prayers were offered for the house of assembly, the state and the country at large.
